Has anyone had a Jim Jones type of groupthink experience where folks are convinced about a situation and they?

are absolutely wrong? I have seen that for a couple of months now where people what a situation to be so true, but it just isn't. It's bizarre and I wonder are there lives so boring that they are wanting something to be true and not realizing they are drinking some bad kool-aid?
