Has anyone had a Sony Grand Wega KF-42WE610 Lamp melt in place?

The lamp door melted and the lamp melted in place. We cannot remove it. Optical block melted in place - lamp driver and wires overheated, insulation cracking...

Sony says it's not a fire hazard...we are going to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Hi,

   I have exactly the same event over the weekend with my KF-42WE610. I called BBuy and they want 900 to fix it. I called Sony, they are going to have a Service Tech evaluate if it is a Safety issue. If yes they will fix at their cost else I have to foot the bill.

I am pretty sure they will say it is not a fire-hazard or safety issue and dump it back.

  Have you tried the State Attorney's office?
