Has anyone had a bad experience with Best Buy warranty or return of items to Best Buy?

I bought a floor sample television a year ago from Best Buy. When I bought it, the floor person said it would be a good idea to buy a warranty on the tv, so I did. 3 weeks ago the picture tube went out. Since I had the warranty, I did not worry about it until I tried to use the Best Buy warranty. They had me bring the television to the store. They sent the tv to service for two weeks only to tell me that they could not fix it. According to the warranty, they were supposed to replace the tv with something similar, but they told me that the tv was not worth but 50.00 dollars and that they did not sell tv,s for that amount and I could only get a store credit for 50.00 which has to be used in 90 days on another tv or I forfeit it. How in the h**l does Best Buy get away with this scam. Anybody else experience this?

  1. Yes.  I had the same problem with an xbox, I think they make up their policies as they go along, and change them at will.

I don't shop there any more.

  2. yeah I have had problems with them returning something before I had taken back the same game system 3 times and on the 4th time I had to take it back they would not take it back.

This all was in the same week of buying the game system. They said it was against there policy to give me my money back they had to give me store credit.

This was back when ps2 came out!
