Has anyone had a child with these symptoms?

My son developed a fever of 103.6, stayed fluctuated between 103.6 and 100.5 for a couple of days even with motrin. On the second day I took him to his doctor who informed me that he had a sore throat, but that it was not strep but might be hand-foot-mouth. He did not develop any other symptoms and the fever actually broke after the second day. Today, three days later, I've found him with vomit in his crib after every naptime (first thing in the morning, morning nap, and afternoon nap). I'm not afraid of aspiration with him as he always sleeps on his side, but does anyone know what this is? Could it be something serious? I've taken his to his doctor twice already this week with nothing to go on, so before I decide to take him to the after hours place I'd like to hear if anyone else has seen this in their child.

  1. i would call the doctor.  you don't always have to take your little one in, just tell the doctor what the symptoms are and your doctor can let you know if he should be brought in to be seen.

  2. WELL CHECK HIS HANDS FEET AND MOUTH FOR BUMPS AND  CHECK HIS TEMP OFTEN IF IT  IS STIL GOING ON LIKE 2 DAYS LATER TAKE  HIM TO THE EMERGENCEY ROOM

  3. i havent had this but the safest position for ur baby to sleep on his back not on his side

  4. When my son was about 1 or 1 1/2 he had the same symptoms.  They checked him for strep, but it was negative.  The doctors told me it was just a virus.  About a week later he was very lethargic and would run an extremely high fever.  We would give him Motrin and he would be fine for a couple of hours and then go lethargic again.  They finally did bloodwork and found out he had Bactremia which is strep in his bloodstream.  They had to give him 2 extremely high-powered antibiotic shots.  Usually they hospitalize them when they have it, but thank God his case wasn't really bad.  I would take him to the ER if his pediatrician won't see him again before he gets worse.  Hope this helps!

  5. I would have him rechecked for strep.  Sometimes you will get a false reading, especailly if they do the rapid strep test.  If your doctor won't preform it, take him to a med center if your insurance will cover it.

  6. Anytime your babies fever doesn't break after Motrin, you should always go to the doctor, sounds like your doctor isn't taking your concerns seriously,  Id find a new doctor

  7. i agree with Nanny, call and then if your not comfortable take him to the er or clinic, after all you know your child better than anyone, and if your worried make them worry about it as well.

  8. Call your doctor or a nurse on call. If you don't like or feel good about what they say go with your gut and take him to the hospital.
