My friend wants to get married in Vegas, but she doesnt want a little white chapel with Elvis to marry them, she wants to maybe get married at the Grand Canyon, with a bridesmaid and a best man. She wants a cake and a photographer, and obv somewhere nice for dinner. Any ideas how much this will cost and where to begin planning/booking!?!?

  1. People incorrectly assume that a wedding in Las Vegas will be cheap, tawdry, and won't last.

There are lots of people who have gotten married there that are still married and had classy weddings.

I am getting married there in a church and having reception in a 4 star hotel right off strip.

Weddings in Las Vegas are not necessarily cheap. It is just that there are alot of different options.

  2. Oh my Gosh, that sounds just like me. My husband and I got married in the Valley of Fire at sunset. It's about an hour outside of the Vegas strip. It was a package deal, complete with photography and videography. My husband also wore a kilt. :)

As far as dinner and stuff, you can go just about anywhere. We had a small reception at McMullan's Irish Pub.

  3. Yes.  I got married at Red Rock Canyon.  My daughter got married at Lakeside Gardens at Desert Shores.  I have two websites for you to look at.  http://www.alwaysandforeverweddings.com

They have packages that includes everthing.  And Lakeside Gardens also has receptions although they probably would rather have a dinner reception at a restaurant.  We had our daughter's reception at Morton's Steakhouse.  We had a private room.  And they gave us a set menu with a choice of steak, chicken or seafood for the entree and had a wedding cake made by a bakery and brought to the restaurant.

If the price seems too steep you can go with getting a pastor to come to you.  Check out this website. http://www.spiritofprophecy.org  Pastor Rick Hall or his son Pastor Andy will be happy to do your wedding anywhere you'd like.  Pastor Andy even does sky diving ceremonies.  One caveat.  Both bride and groom must be Christian.

If you go this route, google Las Vegas wedding photographers, and be sure to hire one.  Call Freed's Bakery for the cake. http://www.freedsbakery.com   Check out the cake gallery.  Here's the link to Mortons if you'd like that:

Be sure to have both bride and groom go to the courthouse to get a marriage license before the wedding.

  4. My first marriage 12 years ago was at the Treasure Island Hotel in Vegas.  It was beautiful!  We had a reception in a big high-roller suite next door at the Mirage Hotel.  The wedding package included beautiful fresh flowers (I was amazed at how perfect they were), music, and a photo package.  Their look has changed a bit over the years, but their chapels are still very pretty, take a look at this link:

Check into some of the other newer hotels to see what they offer, too.
