Has anyone had a prenatal diagnosis scan?

How are these scans different than a normal ultrasound? I am pregnant with our second child and our first was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. They want to send me to make sure there aren't any birth defects with the child i'm pregnant with.

I'm nervous and just wondering what i should expect.

All it means is that they will do a very detailed anatomical exam via ultrasound, maybe using 4D if they have it.  Since your first child had a heart defect, it will no doubt involve a full cardiac echo, heart muscle evaluation, etc.

You will simply have a long time on the table and may have to move into various positions so that they can get the angle that they want on the baby.
