39 years ago my husband left the house to drive to his job.  We lived in Old Forge NY and he was a chef at Mr Steak in Utica NY.  He was in a car accident and died later that day.  I was pregnant and our daughter was born the day after he died.  We had been married only 6 months.

There was the time, following a car accident, when my husband's doctor told me that my husband was bleeding internally.  The doctor said my husband would bleed to death without surgery, but that he almost certainly could not survive the surgery.  I had to choose.  Surgery?  No surgery?  I chose the option that had a possibility of life, and it worked.
