Has anyone had an adult tooth removed from gums?

Hello, I' ve posted a few questions on here recently as last Thursday i had 4 wisdom teeth removed and also i had 2 other teeth removed from the front, one was an intact baby tooth and the other was the adult tooth (that was supposed to be where my baby tooth was) that in the last year had started to poke through my gums and move sideways ontop of my other teeth).

The question i want to ask is, has anyone else had to have an adult tooth removed from their gums? The site looks horrendous at the momment, they didnt stitch it up but its a huge gaping hole thats healing well as i can see the skin coming together but it is quite painful. I was offered a brace but due to my age i said i would prefere to have a bridge fitted when it had healed.

Does anyone know how long it will take to heal on average?

I dont know if it's the fact ive had 6 teeth (under a general anesthetic)removed or whether it's just the thought (and sight) of whats gone on but i feel dreadful, really week and sicky...is this normal too? Sorry to go on, any info would be great thank you.

  1. If you feel sick about it all then don`t keep looking at the site if injury, you are bound to be saw after having that number of teeth removed especially wisdom teeth they are quite difficult to extract sometimes gargling your mouth with saltwater can sooth the site and also keep any infection away

  2. I have had several adult teeth removed over my lifetime. I know what you mean. I large molar can really leave a crater in your mouth, but it will heal quickly and the gap will close in a few weeks. Hang in there.

  3. That is quite weird. Iv'e had 6 teeth removed too due to the overcrowding in my mouth. Oh I'm fourteen by the way. Anyways I had two other teeth on each side which were growing at the top of my gum! So obviously had to get teeth removed for them. They've almost dropped completely and it's been about 4 or 5 month. My mouth has completely healed where the other teeth had been pulled out too at the back. It healed completely a few month ago so I'd say it takes about a month or two to heal. I absolutley hated the first few weeks because it hurt so much when I ate and drank because I got teeth out that was the ones I actually chewed with so I had to chew with my front teeth for the first month or two.. I looked like an idiot. Anyways, the feeling dreadful, weak and sick is very normal. I felt like that the first couple of weeks.

    Hope I helped =]

  4. I have had two regular (towards the front on top) adult teeth removes and all four of my wisdom teeth. The holes from the regular teeth will close relatively quickly- usually within a matter of couple of weeks. The wisdom tooth holes, however, will probably take a couple of months to heal, and maybe longer depending on how old you are (mine took about 2 and a half months, and I was 23 at the time of removal) The dentist / surgeon doesn't need to stitch them up, so don't worry about that- the blood clot that forms in the hole where the root was will be the foundation of new bone that will grow in it's place. Just make sure you don't suck anything or use straws for the first week after removal: it can dislodge the blood clot and increase healing time as well as cause you great discomfort (also known as dry socket). I hope this helps.

  5. Yeah.

It should look like a big gaping hole,

with some pinky purpley jelly like substance inside it.

    Its just the healing process.

    I had that done,

but i chose to have a brace.

Im getting it tommorow, and its really worrying me.
