  1. yeh, if it's left for a while then the salt can erode it, especially if it is painted, our stables are the same, one's eroded because the salt l**k was left there for ages, but it does take a while

  2. That is a wierd one.  We did get discolouration if the horse had licked with a very wet mouth or the air was damp (on foggy mornings etc) but it washed off.  What are you using?

  3. never and we used to use them all the time..is it in a holder?

  4. yea ive never had any problems either

  5. Just plain salt or a mineral block?

Salt licks can leave a residue on the concrete, and the different elements in the mineral blocks can react with the lime in the concrete.

What does the reaction look like?

  6. Hey, I'm in the swimming pool section and what you are describing is the same thing that happens to folk who have salt pools!  Salt reacts with concrete and ruins it, but don't tell those folks who have salt pools!

    You're welcome!!

  7. um....no. Do you? Place the salt licks on the ground feeder if they are reacting. That's not good if they're doing that.

  8. I'm not sure if that's even possible.  Is the concrete painted?  I have to assume you're seeing buildup of salt on the wall (it can make some weird formations if left there long enough).  Try hosing it off and see if it doesn't disappear.
