And how to make your own?

My niece is 12 & low functioning. She only has a few words. But I think her sisters would enjoy helping make videos!

I just need some hints (as well as technical advice for editing the movies on the computer.)

  2. My daughters psych made videos that sound like what you're describing for her.  My daughter LOVED watching them, and acting them out.

You can video her sister doing basic activities that you would like your neice to learn, like asking for help with something or play with someone. Some type of interactive communicative exchange.   Video  her explaining "I'm going to show you how to ........."  then acting it out.  Next, have her repeat...Remember, if you want to ....first you......then you....... repeat the video.   Wrap the segment  with.."So, to ....... first you.......then you......"  keep it simple.

Lots of repetition will help reinforce the lessons.  You can add or delete a step based on your neices reaction to the video.  If you can splice together clips of your neice so it looks like she's performing the task as well, editing out prompting if necessary, that would be a valuable addition to the lessons.

Can't help with the technical stuff. Sorry!
