  1. The best way I think is to find a group that does it.

I have done it in groups where each person puts a  piece of jewllery or watch or something into the pile. You pick up one item, not knowing who put it there. It is better if you do not knwo who put it there, and it is also better if you do not know the people well, so your feelings are not influenced by things you already know about each person.

You can do it with friends, especially if you ask each of them to bring an item like a ring they have borrowed from anothe rmemeber of the family that you do not know.

You pick up the ring, watch etc, hold it in your hands and relax to allow whatever feelings, thoughts, colours etc come up.

You have to be receptive and not try to think. Just allow images to come into your mind. You may get a feeling in your body, or a pain if that person has pain in a certain place, or see pictures of events. Sometimes the things that come up do not seem to make sense at first. Do not try to analyse.

When you have talked about what came up, the member of the group who owns the item can tell you if you are correct.

It is fun as long as people keep an open mind.

  2. Just want to add to Jack's links . I never knew this was what this  ability was called. Never even thought of it having a name.  This is what I was talking about in my question about "hugs". Thanks for cluing me in on this...Jack too!

I think I do this sometimes. There have been times I've had to "jump back" because the energy was so negative. Other times I wanted to "hug" the person for a really long time. I don't know if it means anything about the people or not. Turns out...some of those I wanted to hug for a long time didn't like me. So  that really confused me. This is probably not the same as reading someone's mind or "seeing" things by touching them..so I don't even know if what happens to me is called psychometry. Here's the link for those who aren't familiar with it.:

edit..OOPS..Jack didn't have any links! lol (Well..he USUALLY does! )

  3. A simple, easy way to begin would be to check your library for a book by G Harry Stine - Amazing Mind Machines You Can Build

Plenty of simple experiments and plans in there, along with the results of his own testing.

[He was a scientist-engineer at White Sands Missile Proving Grounds and a number of other scientist-engineers employed there participated in his experiments.]

If your local library doesn't have it they'll be able to get it through an inter-library loan.  It's not a high-demand item.

Psychometry - The Science of Touch, by Bevy C. Jaegers is another informative one you might find worthwhile.  Jaegers was self-taught, but she was genuinely successful in a lot of ways.  She founded the United States Psi-Squad, which worked in a professional capacity as police consultants for law enforcement agencies world-wide.

Like one of the posters here, she held a private detective license... [the first ever given to a psi-type] but unlike a lot of folk who pass themselves off as private eyes she was a person of substance and accomplishment.  The real thing as opposed to some television fantasy.
