Has anyone had any luck with car rentals that will allow you to rent in 1 state and return to another state?

I need to rent a car in Ca. and drive it to Wa.And Im not coming back.Im finding that alot of the car rental places won't do that.Any ideas?

yup rented a car in Ohio and turned it in Colorado. Hertz no extra charge either.

check with airport locations, they usually do one way rentals, also check your nearest major city if you are in a small city

Sure, the big agencies will allow that, but they charge a lot extra.  Do a search in your area for "drive aways."  These are services that arrange for someone to deliver a car for somebody who's moving.  They pay for the gas and give you a little money.  I drove one from Virginia to California.
