Question:

Has anyone had experience converting a truck/vehicle to run on either solar power or water?

I am currently looking at converting a used truck to run on grease or electricity. However, a recent friend (thanks "agua-luna") shared with me about having a vehicle run on hydrogen (water). I've also heard reports of vehicles running on solar energy. Any information would be most helpful?

  1. french inventor guy negre is about (this year) to launch a car which runs on compressed air the price tag will be around 3700euros.evidently this technology has been around for years but has been difficult to develop.an english speaking newspaper in france called the connection featured this car .in this months issue.their w/site is www.connexionfrance.com if you are interested roy the thicko

  2. I am currently working on building my own hydrogen generator, using detailed plans I purchased online. If you don't want to go to the trouble of building your own, there are some excellent units available to purchase, with full fitting instructions.

Check my profile if you want a link to the ebook I am following. Over 300 pages of excellent information on how to use this 90 yr old technology. I reckon I can build my unit for about $80. Heaps cheaper than an LPG conversion! The system I plan to use is supplemental, in that it does not fully replace fossil fuels. Reports are that up to 50% better mileage can be expected. Looking forward to that, as our fuel here in Oz is up to $1.48/liter. Makes US prices sound cheap!

  3. Can't and won't work.

Think about it if you could run a car on water, why wouldn't a car company, any of them, buy the technology and lock the others out (especially with the new CAFÉ standards). It would give them a lock on the market. I could see the ad campaign now, “Why spend another dime on gas buy our car and fill up on water for FREE! No more gas bills. ETC” Even if you think the car companies are in bed with big oil, why wouldn’t the car companies in India or some place else grab it up?

You’ll notice the two people here who gave links are sending you to places that want to sell you something.

Now water injection has been used and is used, not for fuel, but to cool the inside of the cylinder and keep it from detonating.

There have been many claims from many devices and every time someone tests them they fail. Every time the price of fuel goes up we see a ton of devices that claim to increase the fuel mileage. Remember fuel magnets? They are still being sold, and they still don’t work.

Here a link about hydrogen generators  http://www.fuelsaving.info/hydrogen.htm

    And the main page http://www.fuelsaving.info/index.htm

They do a much better job of explaining why they don’t work.

You’ll save more fuel by keeping your tire pressure up, your car in tune, and driving sanely, and not buying more car then you need. After all can you name anyone who needs a 500 hp car? I can’t and a 500 hp will use more fuel even at an idle then a 100 hp one.

    Hope it helped.

  5. no.

    why?

    because it doesn't work.

every year, there's a solar car race.

last one i saw was in australia.

because there's lots of sun there.

the cars are specially made to be light, and have large solar panels.

they would not be allowed to be registered as normal cars.

in addition, they wouldn't go for in normal use.

    as for water, wake up.

if it were possible, wouldn't the energy companies be doing it already?

    you can't get "free" energy.

if you'd taken high school physics, you'd know that already.

  6. see http://solarvan.co.uk/

generally though it is better to leave the weight of the solar panels on the garage where they can be optimally aligned. Modern batteries will give a range over 200miles.

Water/hydrogen does not make sense because of the energy required to split the water.

  7. Hydrogen is not water, it can be produced from water, but it is not water.  Also, you will need to put considerable energy into the water to release the hydrogen so the net energy balance will be negative.

  8. I've seen people do it
