We are considering moving to a home that has a main floor master. We have a 10 month old and will eventually want another. I'd love to get some feedback before we make any offers.

  1. yes thats how our house is. we have the master downstairs and all of the kids rooms are upstairs. we have a 4 yr old, 2 yr old twins and a 4 month old. it works out pretty well actually. we can hear them better when they play on the stairs at night [working on that  : /]

the only problem is that if the kids need us they will have to at least come half way to us for us to hear them. but we are right under the staircase. your house plan may be different though.

plus its alot more space than you'd think. it doesnt feel so crowded upstairs. we have 5 bedrooms upstairs already so its nice to be away.

  2. Sounds like a Cape.  It's totally manageable with baby gates, a baby monitor and a night light.

We had a cape.  and the master bedroom was upstairs, and two bedrooms downstairs.  We actually gave the girls the master bedroom because we were more worried about someone breaking in and wanted to be on the first floor.
