Can't believe mine is torn and needs repair along with several other things in my shoulder caused by a fall on concrete steps due to bad lighting here at my apt. If you have had this surgery, please brief me. Thanks.

  1. I'm 65 and I had it in April and then I also had it in 2002.  Some people prefer to do physical therapy for several years.  I guess it all depends on if it's totally ripped or just a little.  At the sports center where I did physical therapy for a couple months they said that half their patients had RC problems.  To get a good surgeon I'd go to a gym and ask around.

Somehow or other on my first time around I was led to believe that it was just outpatient surgery.  The truth is that for me it hurt enormously for weeks.  (Sorry)  I've met Search and Rescue guys that were brought to their knees by RC surgery.  Second time I still don't have full range of motion but it hasn't been as painful.

Why don't you buy a motion detector to turn the light on in your stairwell?

Good luck and don't let the doctors NOT give you adequate pain medication.  I needed serious prescription painkillers, not Super Tylenol or somesuch.  They haven't had the surgery and trying to be macho about it isn't going to make you feel better.  Good luck.
