I have tried everything ( toys, increased socialization, frequent misting, music ). Nothing works. If anyone has tried anything that works, please let me know. I am desperate. I had a collar put on him a few times, but it seems cruel and soon as it is removed, he plucks again! Oh-please let me know if you had positive/negative effects w/ the red palm oil. Help!!

  1. Never tried Red Palm Oil but have used Wheat Germ Oil and it works great.  I used it on a hen who was plucked by her mate.

You say you've tried everything, have you looked at dietary and nutritional deficiencies as a possible cause for the plucking?  Oftentimes simple deficiencies in their diet or other internal ailments will result in plucking and other destructive behavior, along with behavior problems.

  2. I have not tried oil, but I do know of something which has worked on many occasions.

Go on line and do a search for The Sock Buddy. This suit is slipped onto the bird and often stops plucking. It is stylish, warm in winter, and many birds even come to like them!

I do not know the exact web site, but a search for The Sock Buddy should find it. Have a little caution though, because, for some strange reason, there are several porno sites which can come up when looking for this product.

    Good luck.
