Has anyone had swollen lymphnodes (axillary) and then go to get biopsy and the surgeon couldn't feel them?

CT scan showed enlarged lymphnode; PET scan showed hot nodes; Oncologist felt the swollen nodes; Sugeon said " I can't biopsy a lymphnode I can't feel." Has this ever happened to anyone? Miracle, perhaps?

  1. Yes, I can beat that. For 20 years I had a sebaceous cyst on my back that existed as a small but noticeable lump, but every few years would get infected and nasty (sorry about too much information). I finally decided I had enough. I saw a specialist who examined me and made an appt to have it excised two weeks later. During that time, the cyst suddenly started shrinking. By the time I got to the doctors office, he couldn't find any sign of it to cut out. Gone! It never came back. Spooky, eh?  Strange but true.

  2. Could be a miracle. Could have been a misdiagnosis in the first place but I doubt it with the CT and PET showing them and the oncologist feeling the. Whatever, I hope they go away and stay away.  Good luck.

I had a lymph node right under my jaw line.  I worked in a hospital at the time and was frantic.  The doctor I saw told me to come back once my cold sores cleared up.  I had a few on my lip as I had a cold.  He said once the cold cleared up and the cold sores went away so would the node.  It did.  It was helping to fight the infection. It did it's job and went away.

  3. Yes.  It's not a miracle, but rather its a matter of timing.  By the time you got to the surgeon for a biopsy, the infection may have passed or temporarily subsided - allowing the lymph node to return to its normal size (which in many cases is not physically tactile).

Lymph nodes are living active components of your lymphatic system.  The lymphatic system is a virus and bacteria filter that runs throughout your body, with nodes located in specific areas.  Lymph nodes contain lymphocytes, which are a special form of white blood cell in your immune system.

Lymph nodes become swollen as the result of increased lymphocyte production in a lymph node while fighting an infection.  When the infection has subsided, the lymphocyte production returns to normal, the existing surplus of lymphocytes recycle and absorb back into your body, and the lymph node returns to its normal size.

  4. No, they can come and go.  And if it's too far under the skin, you can't feel it, even though it's actually there.  No, it's not a miracle.  I'd get another scan to see if it's just too far under the skin for them to feel.

  5. PRAISE THE LORD!

uh, no, I never had swollen lymph node that I know of.

However, me and my wife wanted to have our child vaginally, and she had a c-section before. We prayed to God that everything would go well, but my wife never went into labor. When they did the c-section they found a large mass around her uterus with random body parts growing which would have made it impossible for us to have another child if it had gone undetected any longer.

If we had a vaginal birth it would have been our last. Praise the Lord! I believe in miracles......
