Has anyone had the infection of mersa in their bloodstream?

My cousin was recently diagnosed with mersa bacteria in his bloodstream. He is very ill and I wanted to know if anyone out there has had this infection and how long was it till they started improving

  1. My neighbor had MRSA and she was in the hospital for a week or so and out of work for a few months.


  2. MRSA is the abbreviation for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This means that it is an infection from a bacteria called  Staphylococcus aureus, and is resistant to methicillin, and most other broad spectrum antibiotics. Because of this resistance, it is very hard to treat. There are medicines that can be prescribed in the hospital, like Vancomycin, that can treat MRSA successfully- he will probably be on this antibiotic for at least 14 days. It is hard to say, however, how long it will be before he starts improving.
