A friend and I have had lunch at the Acapulco Restaurant in San Pedro, we love the ambiance sitting out by the ocean. When we have been seated we are asked by our server (always the same one) would we like drinks, not the problem; as soon as we have been served she immediately puts our check on the table and we don't see her again for the remainder of the meal, we usually have to get someone else to bring additional beverages. The other thing is that on several occasions we have moved our dishes aside and continued our conversation and beverages and it has not fail yet that we will have bus-person lean over the table to retrieve the dishes. Since we normally have our lunch between 2pm -3pm the restaurant usually has a very small crowd.

Does this seem rude to anyone else and how do we keep the server attention as well as keep the bus person from lying across the table in the middle of our meal?

  1. Speak with the manager.. especially since you are regulars.

  2. No.More and more frequently the server is leaving the check just after the order is delivered.  that way you can pay and get out of there.I actually like it that way. i hate waiting around for the check to arrive  and be late back to work.

  3. If you're going to push the plates to the side, why not towards the edge of the table and not the wall. Unless you had intentions of moving the plates to the outer side of the table before leaving I'd say you're being rude to the busser. Make their job easier and I guarantee you'll get better service.

And if you're coming in around 2 or 3, think about this...some restaurants open around 6am for breakfast. Which means by 2pm your waitress has probably already been there 8 hours. That would explain her disappearance but yea it's still rude. I went to a restaurant during a shift change once, two waiters went around to each table and said this is so and so, he/she will be taking over for the evening or while I go on break. I suggest speaking with the manager to clarify her behavior and request that if she does go home or on break that you are given a new server.

  4. Most restaurants have the servers drop the check immediately at lunch time....so the business people can get in and get out...if she didnt do that ,,she might be in trouble..management loves to gripe about that....and if you dont want the busser laying across the table...dont put the plates so far out of reach...

also...most restaurants change shifts about the time you are going in...so she may be leaving and cursing you for coming in and sitting for 3 hours while she is trying to leave...

be more considerate and ask if her shift is ending..that you would like to sit for awhile...and can you pay the tab now so she doesnt have to wait for you.

  5. Yes, that's very rude!
