Its not normal where i come from to go back a year. I am in 4th now . I was wandering what it is like . and how people treated you .

  1. I'm sorry about your illness. Personally I haven't been held back, started school late, nothing like that. My friend started kindergarten a year late and got held back in second grade, so she's sixteen-going-on-seventeen (February) as a freshman in high school. I don't think she minds it. She really blends in...doesn't look like she's sixteen at all.

    Good luck :]

  2. Firstly remember that you've been ill...so it's not like you failed or anything. The teachers will be quietly watching your back...making sure nobody is mean...not that they will be..there's not much difference between 3rd and 4th years really...the people you liked that will be in the year above you will still be there in lunch breaks etc and you will make loads of new friends in the 3rd year...you dont have anything to worry about...you'll just end up with more friends!

  3. I haven't and i'm just starting secondary school but my advice is that do your best because your the oldest and you can be top of the class and if anyone is mean ignore them!

  4. When i was at school there was a girl who was a year older than the rest of us but we didn't think nothing of it.  We tended to look up to her as she was older, she never had a hard time from anyone, she had twice as many friends too as she knew the ones in the year above.

You will be fine, good luck

  5. Yes. I was suppose to graduate last year, but because of my open heart surgery I had when I was little I started kindergarten a year after I was suppose to.

  6. No need to worry because a lot of students have gone back one year. I am sorry that you are ill but this would be the best thing that you could do. Just be yourself. Hope this helps you out. The best of luck.

  7. Well I moved a year ahead and then because I was too young to go to secondary school I stayed down a year so I was in my correct year (i.e. I repeated the year). In this instance it was ok because the year above that I was with had all left so it was like starting again. However if the year that you were with are still above you I would think it would be quite hard as you'd be seeing all your orignal friends but not in your year. I have friends who have had to stay down but have gone to another school, but this might not be an option for you. I know one girl that was in my year stayed down and she found it hard at first seeing us in the year above specially as it was the year we got out of uniform and she had to still wear it. But she made new friends and got on well in the end

I'm sure your be fine :)
