Question:

Has anyone had trouble w/ DirectTV?

Ever since installation, my TV's audio becomes distorted, the picture goes horizontal/static/no picture/loud distorted audio, etc. Sometimes if I adjust the cable connection or red/yellow/white connectors, it helps only temporarily. DirectTV has not helped me w/ this. Would it be helpful to replace the cable and connectors? Also, some programs recorded on DVR "skip" or don't tape throughout once the program starts having problems. What should I do? Is this related to the DirectTV or just my TV?

  1. the tivo should have two composite outputs, you could try to swap the outputs to see if that will work, maybe even try to replace the patch cables.

as far as skipping scheduled programs, the reciever may be failing with an intermitten problem, meaning it is not frequent, which is hard for anyone to diagnose.

you say "ever since installation" did you move and get it reinstalled, or are you referring to the beginning. 1 out of 5 dvr's are doa (dead on arrival) or bad out of box. perhaps getting a replacement will fix your issue

i have also seen signal issues and electrical problems be a conflict. is there any foliage blocking your signal? do you have all your components plugged into a surge protector?

  2. i did. one of the hard drives went out on my directv with tivo and it made watching and recording shows very difficult b/c i had to switch between two feeds to find the good one, so the $5.00 a month extra i was paying for tivo service was a waste. when i called directv, they wanted to charge me $75.00 to replace the tivo, which was only a few years old. I dumped them.

  3. try to buy new connectors.  directv customer service sucks.. no one speaks english!  I had the same problem... I changed the connectors out... but I also had problems w/ the tv... you may need to adjust it w/ you tv controller.

  4. Yes just the other day Our TV went completely out/ was blown  and has too be fixed or simply replaced. We then replaced it with another tv and it freezes up and only continues when i pause and press play again. Then the company called saying that there may be something wrong with it DUH!!!
