My daughter is going to be six months old in one week... She did have baby food vegetables about a month or so ago and sort of ate them... She wasn't happy about them, but she did eat them... Then I change to fruits and now I'm trying the veggies again and it's sort of a disaster... What to do...?

  1. Children prefer fruits over veggies because they are much sweeter.  Nothing you can really do but try, try, and try again!

  2. i started my baby on solids at 6 months but she only had a few bites here & there. she much preferred to play with the food and spoon! i think it's normal, i wouldn't worry about it.  once my baby was 7 1/2 months she took a more serious interest in solids. my baby didn't seem to prefer veggies over fruit or vice versa, she liked them the same amount. she enjoyed the flavor of difference foods (and i let her taste lots of things), but she just didn't have the patience or interest or appetite to each much of them.

i would just keep offering her different foods (steam & puree your own if you have the time), and let her eat however much she wants.  feed her the same amount of formula/breastmilk as you always have.

  3. Just try different things and expect a lot to go to waste. My son never has liked baby food. He still isn't on solids at 7 months. He's tried them often, but he won't actually eat them. He's done much better with real table foods cut into strips, but he's still just not ready yet.

  4. SPRINKLE SOME BABY CEREAL ON THE VEGETABLES AND BABY WILL EAT IT EASIER.

  5. you should always start babies off with veggies for just this reason. You should stop with the fruit and stick to veggies for awhile or you will have problems for years. A baby wont starve if they refuse a few servings of food. Keep her on cereal and she will be getting all her needs filled with that while you get the veggies going again. It maybe hard at first but she'll come around! Good luck

  6. Sounds like you have made the problem. After the cereals start the veggies 1 at a time for about 5 days, then you go through each fruit. Dont keep switching all around and 6 months is when they need to start eating

  7. I started with sweet potatoes...and then went from there.  My daughter had this problem too...so I also used a safe feeder.  The baby feeder with the net attached to it.  I put small pieces of veggies into it and she loved to gnaw on it.
