Psychics and others predict horrible things and when they don't happen they just move the date forward a few years. Look at all the catastrophies that have been predicted in the past that never happened.

Here I thought it was zombies.  I wouldn't worry about the Mayan calendar.  There aren't many Mayans around any more and we've done quite well with the various calendars in use.  They've been adjusted, days added and taken away.

The meteor shower is a new detail.

A lot of people are panicking because the Mayan calendar allegedly runs out in December 2012, and so they make the assumption that it means all life on earth will end on that date.  There's not a shred of scientific proof for this theory.
