Has anyone heard any good debates about bringing objectivity back to the corporate-owned media debacle?

Traditionally, journalists are supposed to uncover (and connect) facts and convey them to the public. In recent years, many of the major print and broadcast media outlets have been bought by large conglomerates and stripped of their former objectivity. How do we fix this? The answer isn't as simple as forcing sale of media assets b/c there's no guarantee that the next owner will be any better.

  1. No but this is a conversation that seriously needs to happen.  Never has it been more evident of the subjectivity of journalist and the media than during this election.

  2. i think the solution must be based around regulation and statutory restriction. Maybe even an incentives scheme - there are ten annual tax reduction prizes to media publications which achieve an admirable objectivity in their reporting given by the government. The problem would be in getting the government to be objective in terms of the possibility of giving the prize to a publication which was critical of the government. Just throwing an idea out there! Good question.
