  1. Casting fusion is a scam.  Look for an actual agency that is franchised by either SAG or AFTRA.  If your child has talent get her into some acting classes.  In LA a kids class runs 30 to 60 bucks a session.  There are some great books about the business available at your local library.

Okay,  I apologize if my answer was brief, but again this is one of those questions asked so often that sometimes I get tired of going into.

Your child will get to read in front of agents, but understand that there will be hundreds of other children there and her time in front of the agents will be very, very short. As someone whose attended one of these events as an agent, you should know that it's very unlikely any actual agents will attend.  More often they send an assistant.  I was sent as an assistant.  The agents, or there reps, view it as a free weekend to booze and have a good time.  In the industry these kind of events are referred to as a "cattle call".  Maybe, just maybe a few children will signed by an agent, though the agency's make deals to 'call back' a certain number of children, just to make the event seem worth it.  I guess when it all comes down to it, if you have the money to do this event, then you have the money for your daughter to take real acting classes and eventually go out to LA for a few weeks.  I have to say I'm genuinely surprises that your sister would suggest an event such as this as a good thing. In Los Angeles these kinds of events are seen as a joke.

I do wish you luck, but if you google modeling/acting scams you will find information about similar events.  I believe the top answerer for the Theater & Acting area, Marianne has spoken in length about the casting fusion scam.  If you want another opinion, from someone who obviously knows the business I would contact her.

  2. Sigh, I personally have such Negative feelings about AGENCIES and AGENTS, my bias is definitely strong. First of all, AUSTIN is likely the most CULTURALLY friendly city in the entire state, with hundreds of opportunities.

No offense to you or your motives, I am always baffled by the HUNDREDS who come here calling out AGENT as if that was like Dorothy and her RUBY Slippers.

The question, whether or not about FUSION is asked dozens of times per day
