Has anyone heard more rumors about the Cardinals trading for a closer?

I haven't heard any rumors but the Cards should go out and get Brian Fuentes. Right now they have Franklin as their closer...and he hasn't been doing that well at all...and they have Isringhausen who was the Cards first closer before he blew up and went on the DL.

They were interested in Eddie Guardado of the Rangers but he got rocked a few days back against the White Sox and his stock/interest went down some.

Don't be shocked at any the Redbirds might do.

Keep in mind as I type this they are only 4 out in the Central and Wild Card.

The Brewers went after Sabathia, and with Sheets, Bush and the rest of that lineup--read that as contenders.

The Cubs got Harden--'nuff said with a good team.

Even the Astros and the Pirates are going after players.

The Reds are a no show.

As for the Cardinals--they need to do something, so don't be surprised to see a new left fielder, new shorstop, new starting pitcher, and a new closer in the next few days.

Not a prophet here, but the team is young . . . and with a quality, certified, and consistently good player/pitcher--they could win the whole she-bang!

I keep hearing there is a Holliday/Fuentes trade in the works for the Cards. I can only hope!

After the Mulder disaster I think they are skiddish about making a trade w/Billy Beane again.

They are in the thick of the sweepstakes for both Fuentes and Huston Street...to me it seems more likely that they will go harder after Street.
