  1. yes, i think he was in the us congress 10 years ago. i think he is from okla. and played a little football, too. good looking black guy and a good orator but was not reelected. i think he was unusal in that he was one of the first gop black up and coming stars.

    what is he up to these days?

  7. Yeah I have a couple of his books and have heard some of his radio stuff.

    Basically he's a philosopher trying to find links between Eastern and Western philosophy. Been around since the 60's I think!

    He's great to listen to while high... on whatever is your favourite way to get there ;-)

  10. Yes, he's a pretty good introduction to Zen and Buddhism for us westerners.  He has a lot of good things to say, but he's not always completely accurate.  If you like what he says about Zen, check out Philip Kapleau and Shunryu Suzuki.
