Can someone please explain it to me. Also when using them what should I shoot. On nine holes I usually shoot a 42, but with the points I shot a 33. Is that average?

you can get much information in this website, kindly stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time, and you can aslo get your question answer in Google Search in this website, which has already helped me very much.

  2. If you are using the following scoring method and your Hogan score was 9 strokes lower than your normal score, its average according to my calculations.

1 pt. for each fairway hit

    1 pt. for each GIR

    1 pt. for par

    2 pts. for birdie

    1 pt. for each up-and-down

For example, if your 9 holes were all par 4's, your normal score would be a 36 if you hit every tee shot into the fairway, hit every green with your second shot, and two-putted.  However, using this scoring system, your score would be a 3 because you two putted but only got charged 1 stroke for the par.  Your score for 9 holes would be 27 instead of 36 (difference of 9), just as your score for 9 holes had a difference of 9 (42-33).
