Has anyone heard of a ban in MO that doesn't allow certain phrases in the drive-thru?

I was told at work on Tuesday that I was no longer allowed to say "is that all" or "is that it" after taking an order because the state had banned the words. I've tried to look it up but I can't find anything on it.

  1. That sounds absolutely untrue and silly.  I think (like another answerer said) that your managers are probably just trying to get you to say something else.  What did they suggest you say?  "Would you like to try our Zesty Jalapeno Poppers, $2.99 for a limited time only?"

  2. More likely the company did the banning.

  3. Why on earth would any legislature ban those words?  Really, think it through.

This sounds like some sort of internet hoax making the rounds.  If your manager tells you to stop using those words, you should probably follow through, but not because you think it's a law.

  4. Yeah, we weren't allow to say that, either.  Reason being is it sounds to them like a whine because they aren't ordering anymore.  We could say,"Is there anything else you'd like?" or "Would you like...?"  Often times they'd think about that suggestion and say,"Yes".  All of that sounds better than,"Is that all?"

  5. Someone is pulling your leg, they just want you to try to add-on to the order.
