Has anyone heard of a lawn infestation known as "barn" or "carpet" disease? Any known remedies to destroy it?

  1. Never heard of that disease. You may be talking about an infestation of an unwanted type of grass that literally takes over a lawn in small clumps or patches. This grass is known as "barnyard" or "pasture" grass. Its color is much lighter than the normal turf grasses you find in landscapes. This lighter color causes these patches to stand out more and makes a nice turf look rather unattractive. This pasture grass grows faster and sticks above the nicer turf grass. The blades are also much wider as well and somewhat velvety to the touch. Another nickname it is given is "velvet" grass. Hope this answers your question...
