  5. Haven't heared it sorry, but i would love too!

  6. There are a lot of myths and legends regarding The McCrimmon, one being that because of the beauty of his playing The McCrimmon was gifted the chanter for his bagpipes from the Queen of the faerie.folk, it was crafted of faerie silver so his music was even sweeter and more haunting.  I have also heard of the legend that says he now pipes people from their death to heaven.  Especially soldiers who fall in battle.  But as Scottish history and folklore was not encouraged in Scottish schools until recently (not even sure it is now) All I really know was passed by word of mouth from Gaelic grandparents.

MacCrimmons were famous pipers and the hereditary pipers of the Clan MacLeod on the Isle of Skye.

One of the most famous of their tunes( McCrimmon's Lament) was composed in 1745 on the departure of Donald MacCrimmon by his sister. Another legend has it that Donald MacCrimmon had a premonition of his death and composed the tune the night before he died and that his sister later wrote the words. Donald MacCrimmon is said to have been killed in a skirmish in 1746 at the Rout of Moy during the last Jacobite Uprising.  It is an extremely sad and haunting tune, as laments are.  There are quite a few versions you can listen to on Youtube.

    The words of McCrimmons Lament

Round Cuillin's peak the mist is sailing

The banshee croons her note of wailing

But my blue e'en wi' sorrow are streaming

For him that will never return - McCrimmon

No more, no more, no more forever

In war or peace shall return McCrimmon

No more, no more, no more forever

Shall love or gold bring back McCrimmon

The breezes on the braes are mournfully moaning

The brook in the hollow is plaintively mourning

But my blue e'en wi' sorrow are streaming

For him that will never return - McCrimmon

No more, no more, no more forever

In war or peace shall return McCrimmon

No more, no more, no more forever

Shall love or gold bring back McCrimmon

There is also a tale that says it was written out of sadness as members of the family were put on ships for Canada during the Highland clearances.

Try googling McCrimmon heritage for more info.
