Has anyone heard of airfare to Christchurch from LAX for less than $1000?

I need to travel from Aug 21 to Sept 6 or so, but the very cheapest airfare I found is $1114 on cheaptickets... thx

Try a couple of different things: 1) Priceline - bid $1000

2) Sidestep.com ... it will compare a bunch of sites.

3) Build your own connections. For example, I know Hawaiian is offering very cheap fares from LAX to Sydney, then look for a separate fare from Sydney to Christchurch.

I'd like to know how it works out for you.

The cheapest tickets I could find were on http://www.airnewzealand.com  for $1045.80 USD (including taxes)

Air New Zealand tends to post the best prices for getting to New Zealand.  Travelocity has had some pretty good deals too but not as good as Air New Zealand.
