  1. Yes, many policies do, after a waiting period.  The waiting period varies by state, but is usually at least two years.


  2. Colorado doesn't ever allow payments for "intentional" suicide. Accidental suicide is usually covered after one year.

  4. yes most (but not all) policies are like rock says. often the waiting period is five years.  in some cases it will say in your policy "limited benefits" meaning they will return your premiums but not pay the full face amount.  If they can prove that you were intending to commit suicide at the time your purchased your policy they "might" be able to deny benefits at any time later....so if you are making long range plans...like going out on your 50 th birthday and you are 44...be sure not to leave any evidence in writing or e mail or even casual conversations....

  5. My employer-sponsored life insurance covers suicide, but with a waiting period of a few years.  (In other words, if I committed suicide within 2 years of beginning to work here, it would not pay.  After 2 years it will.)

  6. Almost all do after a 2 year period from date of purchase.
