  1. HAHAHAHA! How is a 9 year old a black belt? He won't even remember any of it when he's older. He'll just have to retake the black belt test when he's an adult. Do they even give black belts to kids under 16? That's absolutely ridiculous. He must be going to a McDojo (Belt factory).

  2. At my taekwondo dojang, we pay 90$ for our first degree testing.

This is a load of BS and you should drop out of this school, NOT tkd.

    Find a better school!!

  3. Classic McDojo/ang!!!

Just Withdraw your kid, or if you want him to learn how to defend herself, get em into boxing.

  4. Expensive belt tests are the #1 sign of a McDojo.  It is a total ripoff.  Buy a black belt from a martial arts catalog instead.

  5. I know the higher rank you are testing for the more it costs for a test. But how has a 9 year old gotten to this stage? I think 9 is a little young for a black belt test. Some places have Junior Black Belts until you turn 16. Maybe you should re-think the school you have your child in.

  6. TKD=take your dough.youve been suckered like most ppl have with take your dough.MCDOJO!!!!

  7. Ridiculus, anyway woudln't they have redo it one they turn 16?

  8. yes.  That how they make money.  Do you think our 9 year old can beat off 250 lb attacker if he had to?  Should a 9 year old have a black belt?

  9. Does it come with a lifetime membership?

If not, get him out of that school and into a real one.

  10. Let me guess, he's been studying for two to three years?

My black belt test was $150.  That included the belt and certificate, registration, and a great ceremony with a party in rented halls.

    You've been McDoanged.

  11. yes i have heard of it. get out of that club and find another club.

  12. That sounds too high.  I suggest talking with the instructor.

    James

  13. hahahaha... that's all that needs to be said. Go into the dojang and do that right at the instructor's face and walk away, you're wasting your money and your child's life

  14. Are you serious?  If so, it's unbelievable!!

I've always thought that black belts should should be awarded for better reasons than money.

If I was you, I would find a better martial arts school.

  15. SCAM - plain and simple.

  16. just about everybody's already said this, but 1) nine is too young for a black belt, 2) 975 dollars is ridiculously expensive for a test

  17. That's why I call it...

    TAKE ONES DOUGH!!!

That amount of money will get you YMCA membership for your whole family for a year. Another 25-35$ every 7 or 8 weeks for martial arts classes for your kid.

    I teach at the Y. I don't issue belt ranks, only certificates - $5.

  18. $975 for a belt test?!  That's insane!  Sounds like the dojo cares more about making money than teaching martial arts.
