  1. Yes it cost a FORTUNE.  My brother went on one to Washington DC and it was really expensive  We held a fundraiser for him and once we achieved the goal, he was sent off.  I recommend, if you really want to go, to ask for money from friends neighbors, ask teachers that nominated you and other things, and tell people that you and your family will pay them back.

  2. Australia is about $5,500.

  3. Yes. People to People is an amazing program which will offer you the trip of a lifetime. I, too, was invited to Australia in 2005. The base fee I believe was between $5500-6500, however alltogether, after including pre-travel supplies and spending money, it ended up costing a total of around $8000. It's alot of money, but it's worth every single penny. It deffinately changed my life a ton. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me, and I can still remember every single detail of the trip. The cost includes everything; all meals, flights, hotels, tours, etc. The only thing it doesn't include is your spending money and the cost for a passport if you don't already have one. You're given time to fundraise and do different things to raise the money to go on the trip. www.fundingyoureducation.com is a website created by People to People which gives good ideas on how to fundraise and how to plan out how much you need to raise each month. After you complete the program, you can choose any other trip the program offers each year until you graduate. I plan on traveling to Europe with the program the year I graduate, which will be my last chance to go. If you can, I highly recommend going on the trip. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that you will most likely never be given again. I'm extremely greatful for having been able to go on the trip. It turned traveling into a passion of mine. Also, Sydney has become my favorite place in the world and I'm so in love with it I want to live there so, so bad. Trust me, go on the trip. It's alot of money, but there's different things you can do to raise the money. You will never regret it, ever. If you go, have fun!

  4. Yes, you can expect to pay a good chunk of change. However, the experience you gain from it is extremely good and it looks absolutely great on a resume. It's one of the reasons I have my job today. But yes, it will be quite expensive, especially if you are going to Australia. However, not only can you ask for family members or friends to chip in, but sometimes there are also scholarship opportunities from both public organizations (government and non government) and private companies sometimes. Explore that before you automatically rule out not going. In my case, the external value of the experience was way more than the cost of my trip!
