I just got on the AHL website to check up on the Phantoms and thought that it must be some kind of joke. But they used to be the Iowa Stars.

  1. They are the DUCKS affiliate if I am correct. So....

    Chopped Duck?

    Duck Chops?

  2. NO. I THINK IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. IT MUST BE THE WORST TEAM NAME IN HOCKEY.

  3. No, I haven't heard of them.

  4. no

  5. Yes, I have heard of them.

Didn't they offer Sundin or Jagr a contract as a joke?  I think the fans throw Pork Rinds on the ice instead of hats.  Instead of three stars, they have three Hogs of the game. Wonder if their goal horn will sound like a snorting pig?

wb, Bill, wow, someone my age again....

  6.   Yes.. they are the new AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks recent AHL club was in Portland (Pirates) Maine. Anytime they wanted to bring up a player they would have to fly 3500 miles cross country.  So starting this year the Iowa Chops wil be the new home for the young up and coming Ducks and in the future the Ducks are aiming to have all of their minor league teams in California.
