I am going on a trip for 4th of July weekend to the Bahamas with my fiancee and we are trying to keep the cost down, my travel agent suggested "Imperial Majesty" but i looked at the reviews and it looks like its bad. Can you tell me if you had a good experience! also if we book with Royal Caribean is it worth to upgrade to ocean view? i dont want to because i dont think we will be in the room but my fiancee insists. i have never been on a cruise! help please!

i also read that the best deals are last minute 0nes. is that true? and if we book a guarantee room is it possible to get an upgrade?

Thanks for all the help to all experienced Cruisers!!!!!! :)

  1. Never herd of it.

  2. It's a rustbucket that should have been decommissioned decades ago. Carnival has many cruises less than RC. Check out vacationstogo.com and do a search using your budget as a guide.

  3. I have read varying descriptions of the ship and the cabins however one thing is clear, the ship is old and likely to be scrapped by 2010 unless major upgrades are undertaken.  That is perhaps one reason for the rather dismal review I read from someone who first sailed on the ship a number of years ago.  Why spend money on a ship that is to be scrapped.

If you are looking for more of a mordern cruise experience then I would suggest Royal Caribbean as a much better alternative.  I have cruised with them and enjoyed the experience.  As for an outside cabin as opposed to an inside cabin, that is a matter of choice.  I personally prefer to be able to look out a window but some, just planning on sleeping for a few hours, do not really care.  Personally I think it will be worth it to make your fiancee happy.

As for last minute bookings you can get some good deals hwoever you must remember that it is often "leftovers" so you may not be able to get the cabin you want.  You can, on occasion upgrade but I would check on the lines policies as they can vary.

  4. try PRINCESS CRUISES they have good deals we been on them 8 times. good luck

  5. That's the company that currently runs the "Regal Empress". Although an elderly ship (ex-Olympia, 1953), she is apparently well-maintained and has an old-world charm very different from the glass-and-balconies mega-liners of today. I would give her a try as a nice contrast from Royal C.

As regards ocean views, I personally wouldn't plan to do more than sleep and change in my cabin, so wouldn't pay extra. But some people like their private views.
