Has anyone heard of this thing called the Secret?

I was at a friends house recently and they had me watch this documentary called the secret. I want to say it was on the discovery channel but I'm not sure. Basically it was a bunch of people talking about the "secret" and how to use it. If you ask for something and want it the universe will give it to you.

Has anyone else seen this? What do you think?

  1. i love it, my life has been so much better with it. its basically just positive thinking. its great

  2. well, no, its just positive thinking really. it doesn't really have any effect on life, you just enjoy it more. its hardly a secret.

  3. To a degree, it's common sense and it's what everyone has known for years.  If you have a positive attitude, you'll make good things happen for yourself.  If you set goals, you're more likely to achieve them, and so on.

But then it goes too far.  You can't literally ask the universe for, say, lots of money or a new boyfriend, and then sit back and wait for it to happen.  "The secret" also implies that people who get diseases or have other bad things happen to them somehow asked for it because they didn't have the right attitude.  That is very wrong.

  4. The Secret is based on vibrations and like attracts like so if you wish to bring, say, health into your life be grateful for the health you have and really tune into the feeling of health.  It's not just wishing and getting what you want, it is focusing your intention on what you want and through that intention manifesting what you want.  The universal source is infinite and will give you what you ask for.  If you focus on being in debt the universe hears you concentrating on debt and gives you more.  If you concentrate on all in your life you are grateful for the universe hears gratitude and gives you more to be grateful for.  Simple right?  How come so many people continue to moan and complain, that's not any fun anyway.  Follow your bliss, is the secret in a nutshell.  Blessed be.

  5. Isn't the whole point of having a secret not to tell anyone?

  6. I can't tell you, it's a secret.

  7. I have! and I like it!

a good follow up book is: The Intention Experiment....this illustrates the science behind thoughts...
