Has anyone heard that Bernie Mac died?

I just heard the news myself on NPR, and saw a brief write up on USA Today.com.  I'm so sad.  Just this week, I woke up in the middle of the night and turned on the episode where he learns the identity of his father, who he always thought was his uncle.  It brought tears to my eyes.  I can't believe just a month ago, he was making bad jokes at an Obama Rally!

To those of you who don't know who he is, he is an African American comedian from Chicago, Il.  He's known for telling it like it is- he reminds me so much of my uncles!  He's also a star of television and movies.  He starred as the father in the remake of 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner' starring Ashton Kutcher.  He was also one of the self-appointed 'Kings of Comedy'.  Check out some of his work on You-Tube.  His speech can be hard for some to understand, but that's the accent of the area!

Yes, and what makes it sad is that Bernie Mac was only 50.

I think that dying at that age is too young, especially with the technology and medicine we have these days.

This year, it seems like there's a lot of talk about cancer, disease, and death with celebrities, journalists, etc....Tim Russert, Tony Snow, now Bernie Mac.

No way. It really was on CNN? CNN wouldn't lie about something dumb like that.

It's just a rumor. Thank goodness. He's one of the greatest comedians ever! If he died, it'd be horrible.

I just turned on CNN news, and I too just saw it. The link posted above was reported a week ago. I am incredibly saddened by hearing this. He was one of the greatest. America just lost one of the best comedians that ever lived.

i was shocked. me and my mother loved him and his show. we both cried and i'm so upset. he was only 50! we lost one of the greatest comedians. RIP bernie

May I ask who Bernie Mac is? never heard of him at all. He may be famous where you are but here we never heard of him.

Wow this is really sad...In the earlier part of the week it was a rumor, not look what happend ?? People's tongue are a powerful tool..we really have to be careful what comes out the mouth ....hmm..such a great person, who would dare not laugh at Bernie ? i found out yesterday and i was just shocked because he died so early, and i thought he was a great man. when i was young i used to watch him and he was a funny guy, i just cant beleive it.. it sad and we all hope he rests in peace and we all love him
