I have heard people say they had a terrible time on holiday there, but the worst they can say is that its full of Germans (what a bloody cheek considering how young brits abroad act, plus i speak german so it doesn't bother me) and it is very noisy, but i am staying in a quiet part of Arenal. Anything else?

  1. your lucky to get the resort not normally on offer unless you book hol yourself! i've never been my dad went there years ago, i have heard its full of germans perhaps thats why not many travel agents in u.k  promote it! however you get foriengers anywhere you go so whats the difference and hey you have a nice short transfer ! have a good time!!

  2. I've also heard that it is mainly Germans. I am going to Cala Millor and people are telling me this is the same. I can't honestly see what the problem is. Do we brits think we have the monopoly on Spain and it's islands, isn't this the reason we go abroad to experience different people, languages and cultures. Hope you have a great time!!!!!!

  3. Ok, as a local I can introduce you a bit to el Arenal...

Back in the 50's el Arenal was as the world translates a very big area with just sand. As interest in Tourism grew, hotels started being placed as close as possible to the sea....

By doing this, the great dunnes by which El arenal was known for started disappearing, and more and more property was built in its placed.

El Arenal, believe it or not, started being a huge Swedish and British enclave. As the years went by ad Calvia started growing, the Swedish left the island altogetherm the British moved on to Magaluf and El Arenal was reinvented as an all German zone (with a Bier Strasse included).

With more money placed into the area, there has been a huge improvement with little cafes and it is quite a pleasant area to visit... I would definitely give it a go

  4. As pointed out above, this resort does cater for the Germans. But never the less, it a nice, clean resort.

Next to El Arenal is Can Pastilla, which caters for the English. You can walk into Pastilla from Arenal or catch the bus, I think the bus only cost 1.20e which is cheap.

The beaches are lovely and clean in both resorts and they are also quiet.  There are excellent links to Palma City too which only takes half an hour.

I go every winter for 2 or 3 weekends and I always enjoy it, it is well worth a visit.

  5. Oops, my mistake, thought you'd mis-spelled Arsenal.

  6. Mmmmm

The German equivalent of Blackpool in the sun !!

  7. Nope...been to see Arsenal play tho lol

  8. Hi,

    i have never been,

but a friend has, and she had a great time, she loved every minute of her holiday.

But then everyone will have different views on the place, as people like different things when on holiday.

I hope you have a great time.
