  1. Actually my friend was in that program and its a lot of talk and no proof of anything. He payed out of pocket basically for that program and a job was never guaranteed. He lost a lot of money and instead of going to a 4 year college, which he had scholarships to, he now has experience that he really can't use other to be a local grease monkey at an auto shop....not cool. So Its basically not worth your investments.

  2. A few "motorheads" invaded our technical institute and everyday we would push our teachers into high performance applications. A couple teachers didn't like to talk about high performance applications, but a couple would share. We applied the theorys and expanded upon them, and stimulated the teachers interest, because it captivated us in a technical manner. I did extracarricular studies on volumetric efficency and used the school shop to alter a stock induction system and modify it for racing. They don't teach racing in tech schools, but the foundation for the knowledge is the best education you can receive. I didn't like the way the manufacturers were going in their design and altered the stock components. I did what was unconventional and applied it the only way I knew how. I used my design in street racing. A year later the exact same formula I used was in an article in Hot Rod magazine. The thing about being a high performance technician is that you have to go beyond what is taught, but you need to know the history of the theorys as applied to scientific formulations. If you want to be better than the other guys, you go by trial and error. If you can really grasp the theorys as they pertain in a technical and mathematical manner, you will be a better technician. I think the message i'm trying to convey is, that you need a real education. One without the label. You have to study beyond what is offered. You have to know inside yourself and be able to feel the ability to create. And after you prove to yourself and the people around you, then, and only then will you know you have the ability to make a change and be able to offer something a lot more valuable, than somebody who just "wants" something.
