I saw this somewhere else and though I'd get some responses here.

my list..

1. Smoking marijuana in uniform

2. Driving like maniacs (everyone has seen this one)

3. Publicly intoxicated (I live in an area with lots of Cop bars, they come out acting like fools then will drive like maniacs, one actually destroyed my friends Pontiac and the officers who responded to the crash told my friend to call a tow truck and go home or he'd be in trouble, nice right ? )

4. Sexually harassing Teenage girls (I saw this one ALOT when i was in high school

5. Beating homeless people, they love that one here in the Northeast

btw - if you're going to come on here to be all naive and say 'what does it matter', 'you're obivously a cop hater', 'cops don't do anything illegal because they're cops' ...PLEASE go to another question and spare me ok? Thanks !

  1. lol cops are the worse.....911 is indeed a joke.

  2. I seen a cop do a U- Turn where he wasn't supposed to but i guess he needed to because of an emergency.

  3. Nothing serious...

I've seen them turn on the lights, do a U-turn at a red light in an intersection, and then pull into the drive through at the local Tim Hortons (Coffee shop).

    No ones perfect...

  4. Unfortunatly it happens. Cops are like the public and some of them are bad folks. I think most of them are good. Unfortunatly, they do tend to stick together and the presumption is that people should stand up for the police because they defend us. I would agree with this in most cases, but defending illegal or immoral conduct is unaccetable.

I do have a funny story regarding police misconduct. I was pulled over for speeding and failure to comply with a police officers instructions. The failure to comply was completely bogus but the speeding might have been correct....I beat both in court. The cops apparently offended a lot of people because the guy before me also disputed and won his case. He pointed out that the police had been parked next to a fire hydrant when using the radar gun. He told the judge that the case should be thrown out because (among other reasons) the police were engaged in illegal activity when they were taking the radar readings. Apparently, evidence gathered when the police are engaged in illegal activity is inadmisable, so he won his case.

I think that police should probably be given the benefit of the doubt in most cases. Mostly they are motivated by a desire to protect and serve the public. Unfortunatly, some of them are bullies who are power hungry. These should be punished and fired, but proving misconduct is difficult.

  5. Cops are human too. Unfortunately they don't all take their jobs seriously. But its not only them. What about teachers sleeping with students, popes molesting little boys, firemen drinking while putting fires out, pastors wife having affairs with the mailman, and the list goes on and on. So what exactly is your point? Everyone messes up...

  6. I saw a cop once stopped at an intersection about six feet over the white line, basically forcing pedestrians out into traffic. I shouted at him to back up, and he sheepishly obeyed.

  7. Once.  A cop wrote up a speeding ticket for a car that wasn't mine.  I was driving a yellow two door olds, and he wrote the ticket for a brown, 4 door Buick.  I had seen a brown 4 door car drive past me and get away.  He pulled me over and gave me the ticket.  The only thing accurate on that ticket was the license plate number.  I contested it in court and won.  I showed my registration and told the judge I thought the cop made a mistake.  I wasn't angry or anything.  A good attitude with law enforcement goes a long way.

With that having been said, I really don't like the bad rep that law enforcement has gotten due to a few bad apples and people majorly publicizing the bad apples, and the wrong things they do.  I don't normally mention anything about my experience.  I have only had good dealings with law enforcement, except that, but I kept a good attitude, and realized the guy made a mistake.  Everyone is human, and I'm not going to judge cops, unless they purposely are proven to do something HORRIBLY wrong.  Even then I know they are one bad cop amongst a million good ones.

Edit: To the one about the cop pulling into a coffee shop, perhaps he'd gotten a call about a disturbance or something going on there.

  8. As an ex-cop, YES I HAVE!!  I am glad to say that they are the minority, however.  Most of what I saw is not as serious as some of the stuff you list.

  9. lots!!!!!i used to witness a cop beating this boy on the street for he believed(the cop) that the boy was the suspect of the "theft" that had happened the night before..i mean, let's say its true, why beat him up on streets?he got no right to do that!and besides i haven't and didn't saw the boy was fighting back at all.just in tears..i was around high school this time..i also saw one traffic enforcer not giving a ticket to one motorist when the motorist unloaded some passengers on the "no unloading area"

most of them too are staying up late on "bars" on their uniform and all acting arrogant towards others..men in uniform especially cops should avoid such behaviors, cause they are the one responsible for catching the guys who don't follow the law, such a shame that they too break the rules..not to mention their code of ethics..

  10. Cops are human too.  They do many of the same things as everyone else.  Just like everyone else, some get caught, some don't....that's just the nature of the beast.

  11. A cop once testified against me and LIED! Perjury is a serious crime, especially when cops do it, because their word is given more weight than an ordinary citizen's.

Once I was caught with a tiny quantity of weed by a campus cop at a community college. He confiscated it and let me go, but before he did he told me, "I'll smoke this tonight. Thanks!"

    BTW Ted: Most excellent!

  12. I see it all the time on TV-- and I think it stinks they don't have to pay big time for what they do wrong-- then when most of them do something wrong the go on leave for less than 2 weeks, gee that's gonna teach em! (Pullleease) I am right there with you in your beliefs!
