  1. While I've never done so, I have wanted to take a bus just for fun and to see more of the city I live in. If you decide to do so, try to take a friend or if you go alone, let someone know where you'll be; just for safety's sake. Also, be prepared to pay for the trip back. Unless you are able to strike up a friendship with the driver (and I know most drivers don't like talking to passengers), if you stay on the bus all the way to the end, you will be required to pay for the return trip. Some drivers are sticklers that way.

I've never taken the Metro Bus through downtown Los Angeles, but I have taken the Metrolink train down to Union Station. It's a nice ride (I've gone from Riverside to Union Station) but the station is nothing to scream about. But if you do make it down there, go down towards Gate 10 and past to the end. You'll see a small newstand on your right and a huge fish tank on your left. The last time I was there (back in July) there was a HUGE nurse shark in the tank. At least I think it was a nurse shark. Check it out and have a good ride.

Check the website below for fare for the MetroLink trains.

  2. we have -in fact there load of bus fans who ride buses for

fun (check with southern California Transit advocates

    for more information

and no its not a crazy idea -its a great idea

  3. This has been on my list of things to do for a while.  The AAA Southern California magazine (Westways) actually has an article on this in the current issue, where it talks about all the things there are to do on the stops along the red line subway, starting from Union Station and working toward Hollywood.  Definitely sounds like a fun adventure.
