A Joe cell is a 12volt unit that uses electrolisis of normal water to release gas containing 2 Hydrogen molecules and one Oxygen molecle....see youtube.com to see a joe cell in actin and some acconts of cars running on them ...

it is getting a popular goal and from what i see can be done... Anyone he done it ??

I am open minded as i run my 17 yr old Vdub camper on used cooking oil .. :)

  1. not seen it done, but the basic thermodynamics suggest it is not a good idea.

1 you would need to modify the internal combustion engine to run on the H / O mixture,

2 both gasses need to be stored to provide your fuel, bulky and dangerous!

3 you will end up with a system that has incredibly low efficiency. At best 10% of energy in comes out of the system  as useable energy. In any real world situation it would be more like 3% not so clever.

Better to keep the electrical energy in the battery and use it to run electric motors in your vehicle 80% plus is possible with off the shelf parts.

Plus quiet, and fewer parts to wear and much much safer.

As you need electricity to start with unless the electricity was produced without green house gas emmissions it is not going to be any benifit.

Any combustion engine internal or external has fundamental limits to its efficiency. The result is that no matter what you do it is virtually impossible to build any such engine that offers more than 50% efficiency. (most cars get less than 30%)

a purely electric system has potential for 80% plus efficiency. Fuel cells are the way to go.

  2. i answered this already if its on you tube its rubbish what you refer to is a hydrogen fuel cell if the were cheap we would all have them
