I have tried everything but the prescription drugs. I've avoided them b/c I was under the impression that they can trigger depression and I had a bout w/ that after my 1st child. It was my 1st and only time to go through it but I really don't want to ever do it again.

Did anyone take these medications w/o experiencing that side effect?

Are there others that don't possibly cause this?

Thanks!

  1. i tired everything also.  i never took any prescriptions.  my lactation counselor recommended i didn't.  she said 8% of women can not make enough milk for their babies.  it stinks, but it's a fact.  i just pumped and nursed as much as i could then gave formula if she was still hungry.  like i said... i've never taken them.  it's not natural and doesn't seem good for you or your baby.  good luck tho.  if you do try it let us know what happens... i'd like to know i'm having my #2 in april.

p.s. i read your other question and i stopped nursing and pumped exclusivley.  I got a half an oz every 4 hours.  it was so frustrating.  my sister was getting 8 oz every 4 hours.  not fair.  i quit all together when addy was 3 months.  the whole thing was very upsetting.

  2. go to inhousepharmacy.com order Domperidone there are no side affects like Reglan, I can get 6 ounces every 3 hours..good luck

take 20 mg, 4 times daily

drink 80 oz. water daily and eat healthy

  3. Hi Nina, I've been taking Domperidone for about six months now. It doesn't have the side effect of depression like Reglan has and it is considered safe for breast feeding women. The only problem is that you can not get it in the US. It is not legal, though it is considered safe in every other country. I researched this and it appears to be some shady political issue with the FDA and the pharmaceutical companies. I have to drive to Canada to fill my prescription, which I know would not work for you. But, you may be able to fill it in Mexico or at an online pharmacy. I have heard very bad things about Reglan and depression, but if you are not prone to depression it could be an option.

    You're such a trooper!!

Edit: on a side note...I had absolutely no milk at all until I started taking Domperidone. After starting it (and bfing and pumping like crazy) I had a full supply within 3 weeks.

  4. I don't know about perscriptions but Fenugreek works really well. Get a big bottle of the 610 mg tablets from GNC or whatever and take two or three tablets three times a day and pump or breastfeed as frequently as you can. It has some side effects but the biggest is that it may aggravate asthma. Talk to you doctor about it if you're worried.
