Question:

Has anyone in the UK heard of this company?

I was contacted via email for a job opening at BlueNite Furniture, “A United Kingdom based furniture making company.” I tried to search for them online, the only thing I found were their websites. These websites said they were upgrading (it has said that for a week). Is this a scam? I live in America can anyone in the UK tell me if it is a legitimate company?

  1. SCAM

You will be sent fake cheques.  You will be able to pay them into your bank, and draw out the money to send on to them.  However, the bank will find they are fake and will ask you for the money back.  You will also face prison for handling fake cheques.  The phone number does not exist, I just tried it.

Oh and the English is appalling.

  2. I've never heard of it, sorry

  3. unfortunatly not but if you ave more information, such as area they are in I will try some searching for you.

What are you looking for and are you intending to come to UK

  4. first we dont spell nite like that in the uk it is night,,,

second i seem to remember seeing sometime ago

    blue knight furniture,,another spelling variation,,,

best of luck hope you track it down

if their server is virgin media and they really are upgrading and i sometimes lose my service for a week,,,they are upgrading in areas at a time,,,so it may be genuine

  5. nope

  6. Ask them for their company registration number - all companies have to have a registration number if they are in the UK - It is normally written on the headed notepaper. Also if they are trading in the UK they must be VAT registered so you can also ask for that and search it. If the company will not give you their VAT registration they are almost certainly very dodgy and keep well away.

    Hope it helps

  7. No, never heard of it and my business used to buy and sell furniture as well as bathrooms etc. The payments thing seems to be a bit iffy and i wouldn't be too surprised if you weren't asked for your bank account details before too long. The telephone number is a mobile - something not right here!

Just to be sure, contact the leeds city council trading standards department, they'll be interested one way or the other! Good luck!

  8. I'm in the UK and I've never heard of them.

Sounds like a scam - why would a random company contact a complete stranger by email to offer them a job?

As electrical engineer suggested, try looking for it at companies house at: http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/info (The company BlueNite Furniture doesn't exist...)

    --edit--

Well the website is registered to : -

    Bluenite Furniture

    12566 C Road

    Polk

    Nebraska

    68654

    US

(According to Wikipedia the population of Polk was 322 in the year 2000, so this does sound like some randomly selected dummy address...)

    --edit--

Doing a web search turns up two of those dodgy adverts that are a bit like "earn £1000s a week for just a few hours work..." (Look at the email address at the end of the advert for bluenite):

    http://www.adeex.us/job-hunting/professi...

    http://www.adeex.us/job-hunting/more-ads...

    --edit--

The email sent to you has LOTS of words about what you "will earn", but almost nothing about the "job" - It's nothing like a real job advert and is just like a scam advert written by somebody trying to suck you into thinking only about the money "you will make" by taking this "job".

  9. Never heard of it.

  10. most likely its a scam better be safe than sorry because i have never heard of it.

  11. Surely, if the company contacted you for a job opening, it seems somewhat strange that you were not given any contact details, whether they are updating their site or not.

Although I have not heard of the company, it might be a good idea to contact staff at the following address:

    http://www.furnituremkrs.co.uk/

While the company may not belong to that guild, they may know of some register that may list all of the furniture companies throughout the UK.

  12. try looking for a listing on the company house website in the uk, proper businesses are registered here. the site will give you details of their accounts and address, who the directors are and if they have been dissolved etc.

just want to add not all uk companies are registered, only limited liability ones (ltd at end of company name), and it is not necessary to be vat registered if your turnover is low.

  13. no mate,  never heard of it.
