What ever your short term disability doesn't cover? I only get 60% of my pay when I'm on maternity leave which is my short term disability and it's only for Four weeks, the first two I have to use my own time. A friend from California told me about this. Of course it's a different state and laws but I'm just wondering if anyone's heard of this.

  1. Sorry, it does not in Arizona as in California.  They are also taxed out the @*!& too in California to pay for programs like this.  Since you know what your benefits are at this time, start saving your regular sick leave and some money so you are not so strapped when the time comes.

  2. A quick search of the Arizona DES website revealed nothing of this nature.

  3. No, it doesn't.

The MOST disability coverage ANYONE can get is 70% of pay - that's because it's not taxable, and once you take out taxes, your NET is about the same.

Feel lucky.  A lot of the time, marternity isn't considered a disability - as it's natural, and normal.
