Question:

Has anyone installed a gutter-replacement system called RainHandler?

Instead of using a gutter to drain the water, it uses a louvered-blind design to disperse the water all along the edge of the roof. It sounds really easy to install, and it's dirt cheap, and it beats having to clean out the gutters all the time. But I'm wondering if it is really safe to have the water running all along the edge of the house. Here is the website:

  1. Yes, I had it on one side of my last house. I wouldn't describe it as dirt cheap but when it means never having to clean gutters ever again, the price starts to look pretty good, especially if you have gutters that aren't easy to reach, clog fast, and if you have to pay someone else to clean them. It's very easy to install, though make sure you install the correct brackets and such for your eaves so it works properly. It doesn't disperse the water along the edge of the roof, at least that isn't how I would put it. It makes the water spray out from the house and hit the ground the same way rain would, so you don't get a drip line and/or lots of water near the foundation. That's the whole idea: keeping the water away from the house. The higher up your eaves are, the better it works.

I didn't put it on this house because the gutters here are very easy to get at, and since it's a mobile it has an awful lot of eave length, but I keep trying to convince my parents to put it on their house since they shouldn't be on ladders at their age.

  2. I have never installed any thing like that....I don't even understand any thing you are talking about...It must be manly work.
