  1. The Amityville story was fabricated.  It's been totally debunked as a hoax.

I have never been to the Winchester House, but the lore surrounding it is the stuff of ghost stories and urban legend.

  2. Supposed to be "haunted"?

There is no evidence to indicate that there is even a such thing as a ghost, much less them walking around in the amityville house, etc.

I will tell you that with all of the ghost reality shows on, people get brainwashed into believing this baloney.  One of the funniest shows on TV, is ghosthunters, where these plumbers go around trying to explain "bumps in the night".  While it is fun to watch, it is a bunch of hooey so to speak.

If there were a such thing as ghosts or paranormal, real scientist would be all over it, and not just a bunch of reality show actors.

While it is fun to tell ghost stories, talk about leprechauns, fairies, etc.  don't accept any of these things as fact.

Hey.  Don't let your imagination run away with you.  There are way too many people on here that do this already.

  3. Peter D is correct about Amityville.

Good story to read (the original book), very scarrryy!! The movie(s) aren't so good.

The house that the story is based on is in Amityville, New York:

Winchester House on the other hand is true & real & is located in San Jose, California. Beautiful house with a really interesting story behind it:

    EDIT:

Psi...the story of the murders is true but the story that followed, about the haunting, was a fabricated hoax by the Lutz's...who subsequently confessed to this. I do think it's very possible that the house is haunted due to the events (or the land for other reasons)...as I believe many places are/may be...but the ghost story that we are all familiar with, that I was referring to, was made up. I know that the asker only mentioned the house itself but I of course assume he means in reference to the famous story.

  4. well no and I wish I could but no thank you here is your early Christmas gift,LOVE Santa

  5. Here is the website they have created

Lorraine Warren was aloud in for the investigation

  6. While there are certainly questions to be raised about Amityville (like the movie deal contract) no investigators were ever in the house at the time of the reported activity. So, while skeptics are correct in saying there is no evidence for the activity they are incorrect in saying it was a hoax as that there is also no evidence for that assumption. All claims in science must be supported with evidence and claims of fraud made by skeptics are rarely supported with evidence.

The people currently living in that house have reported no activity and changed the windows and address to discourage the public from intruding on their privacy.

Many groups have investigated Winchester (it's the subject of many TV specials) and they have their own web site if you care to look.

I have never been there but would love to conduct an investigation on the house.
