  1. Check out the websites of your local kayaking clubs.  They'll have pictures of their trips, and tons of "put in" and "take out" information on their sites along with trips information and descriptions.  You can also e-mail them to get tons of info on your local water ways.

Here are your local clubs.  Check out their links and pics:

    The East Coast Paddlers

    A friendly and growing group

located in the Bay City - Midland - Saginaw area

    Great Lakes Sea Kayaking Club

3721 Shallow Brook, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48013

    Negwegon Kayak Club

218 West Bay St., East Tawas, MI 48703

    West Michigan Coastal Kayakers' Assoc.

c/o Karl Geisel, 1025 Griswold SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507

    Black Parrot Paddling

LLC, 3444 Green Acres Lane, Pinckney, MI 48169

    (313) 322-9258

    Lansing Oar and Paddle Club

PO Box 26254, Lansing, MI 48909

If you are new to the sport, I'd highly recomend joining one of those clubs.  It's a great way to network with boaters, get free lessons, learn your local bodies of water, and a great source for new and used gear.  And kayakers are fun people to hang out with.

That should get you started on all of the info you need.

Good luck, and safe boating to you.
